Kendra Davidson
Registered Psychotherapist
About Me
I am a registered psychotherapist currently living in Collingwood, Ontario. I work with couples and individuals who are struggling with relationship concerns, control issues, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and symptoms of trauma.
My background is in attachment, Emotionally-Focused Therapy (EFT), Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapy, and Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (TF-CBT).
I view my clients as resilient, adaptive, capable, and courageous, and in therapy I honor their strengths through a gentle and collaborative approach.
It is an immense privilege to join people on their healing journeys!
Attachment & Relationships
Connection and belonging are at the heart of who people are. Our attachment to close others (i.e. caregivers as children, romantic partners as adults) impacts how we see ourselves and the world around us.
Therapy that is grounded in attachment theory and science recognizes our intimate relationships as an immense source of energy, courage, and capacity. As I often say to clients, our world becomes bigger when we know and trust that we have a safety net that will catch us when we fall.
Therapy can help us shift our attachment patterns to create that safety net we all long for!
Education
Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Psychology – Queen’s University
Post-Graduate Certificate in Addictions and Mental Health – Humber College
Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology – Yorkville University
Experience
Therapy is vulnerable and the growth that can come with it can be uncomfortable. I know this first hand from my own time in therapy. What I also know is that therapy can allow us to move out of survival mode. It creates space in us for joy, pleasure and accomplishment. It allows us to meet our needs in fulfilling ways.
I have been providing psychotherapy in my private practice since April 2022. Prior to becoming a therapist, I worked in various frontline roles within the homeless sector in Toronto, providing referral, advocacy, crisis intervention, and informal counselling to vulnerable women, and gender diverse clientele.
